After multiple failed attempts at the WWE Championship, Shawn Michaels finally got a shot at redemption against his arch-rival Bret “The Hitman” Hart. The match was an epic one, pitting up the two faces of the New Generation Era up against each other. They had a collision course at WrestleMania 12 in a 60-minute Iron Man match.
Only those two could pull it off the way they did and they had an outstanding bout in what turned out to be the coronation of Shawn Michaels. HBK defeated Bret Hart in overtime and as he sat down in the ring looking at the title, the iconic lines “The boyhood dream has come true for Shawn Michaels“.
