WrestleMania X at Madison Square Garden may not have had the first-ever ladder match, but it certainly was the most important one. Shawn Michaels, who had never lost the Intercontinental Championship but vacated it due to injury was put up against Razor Ramon, the then-Intercontinental champion.
They had a great feud and to settle who the undisputed champion was, they set up a ladder match at the grandest stage of them all. It was perhaps the first of an incredible string of matches that Michaels would have at WrestleMania. He was defeated by Razor Ramon but the instant classic would never be forgotten and holds an important place in WWE history.
