Katsuhiko Nakajima was on a good run as GHC Heavyweight Champion. He was on his way to try to become the ace of the company, but something wasn’t working. After successfully defending his title against Brian Cage, he had another major Gaijin challenger in Eddie Edwards.
After a long and fantastic match, Eddie Edwards dethroned Katsuhiko Nakajima to become the new and first-ever gaijin GHC Heavyweight Champion. As of 2018, he remains the only gaijin GHC Heavyweight Champion in the history of the company. He etched his place in history along with the likes of the legendary Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi, Jun Akiyama, Kensuke Sasuke,etc.
