Through the years, WWE has had a lot of trial and error when it comes to their pay-per-views. While we’ve always had the standard Big-4 PPVs such as Royal RumbleWrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series, the list of PPVs through the calendar years has constantly changed, albeit slowly.

As a result, WWE has experimented with a lot of different PPV and Network special names. This year is no exception, as the agreement with Saudi Arabia has introduced the Greatest Royal Rumble and Crown Jewel, and Australia is hosting this weekend’s WWE Super Show-Down.

Many have been successful and stuck around, while more often than not, the experimentation with different concepts hasn’t really ended in success. Some examples of this are Capitol Punishment, This Tuesday In Texas, Capital Carnage, etc. Admittedly, they failed for different reasons, but it’s all a part of the trial and error process.

Regardless, away from the bad and more to the good. We take a look at the 5 best one-off PPVs and specials in WWE history.
