Aysha feels validated.
On April 12, six of Australia’s brightest stars collided in the first ever Victoria Classic, with a future shot at the OPW Women’s Championship on the line. As an added layer, former WWE Women’s Champion Victoria, whom the contest was named after, provided special guest commentary. WrestleZone’s Ella Jay recently spoke with Melbourne native Aysha about her experience in the match, which took place under the banner of Starrcast at Mickie James’ HER event.
“It was really cool having Victoria commentate that match. That was awesome,” Aysha said.
“My top three [favorite wrestlers] is her, Melina, AJ Lee, so that was really cool. Just all the women that were in that match, we all have something special. We all bring something to the table so any of us could have won. I would have liked if I won, but it was great. There’s a lot of things, there was a lot of moving parts, a lot of things going on, just chaos, but we put on a great show.”
As Aysha alluded to, the Victoria Classic did not yield a win for her. However, the competitors’ overall performance did yield high praise from industry veterans such as Chris Masters, Shelton Benjamin, and Victoria herself.
“They were honestly just really impressed with us,” Aysha said. “There was no critiques from Mickie, Victoria. Even Chris Masters and Shelton Benjamin for our six-way match said it was a really good six-way match. It was really validating to get that from them because I feel like they wouldn’t say those sort of things if it wasn’t actually good. So it just kind of confirmed that what we have going here is very strong.”
Additional participants in the Victoria Classic include Caity Luxe, Charli Evans, Eleaine Hope, Lena Kross, and the eventual winner, Tarlee.
