Josh Alexander is counting down the days to Victory Road when he gets to step into the ring with Steve Maclin one-on-one.
IMPACT Wrestling‘s Josh Alexander recently sat down with WrestleZone‘s Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. When asked if he’s looking forward to getting in the ring with Steve Maclin, Alexander said Maclin calling him a coward when he had to relinquish the championship has eaten away at him ever since.
“Yeah, especially with the way I left when I gave up the championship,” Josh Alexander said. “And Steve is really the crux in the ring, calling me a coward in front of my son and doing all that stuff. It just ate away at me that I was so looking forward to stepping foot in the ring in Toronto at Rebellion with that World Championship.
“You know, longest reign and all this other stuff — going one-on-one with somebody like Maclin who I’ve earmarked as the next guy coming up as a homegrown IMPACT talent, kind of built his way to the top there, and just the two of us finally colliding at Rebellion, and that was obviously taken away.
Something To Prove
“He went on to win the championship, and that was obviously something that he lost, and then he suffered an injury. So both of us coming back here at Victory Road, I know we both have been chomping at the bit for the better part of a few years to get in the ring finally one-on-one to show everybody what we can do. Because I think that our styles will mesh really well and we’ll have a really good match.
“That’s something I have no doubt it. But we both have a chip on our shoulder. Both have something to prove that we can come back and be better than we were before. This being my first singles match back in IMPACT Wrestling since returning from injury, and the same goes for Steve. I think it’s going to be an awesome match, and Victory Road is completely stacked from top to bottom, so just happy to be figured into that card and have that marquee match as well.”
