Isenberg Reacts: WWE No Mercy “Missed Out on a Massive Opportunity”

A Massive Missed Opportunity

This was the night, at No Mercy, where WWE could have went all-in on a guy that deserves it. Braun Strowman controlled the 9 minute match with Brock Lesnar, getting up after suplexes and tossing Lesnar around like a rag doll. Lesnar finally worked on the Monster Among Men’s arm with a submission hold, then targeting his sternum. More German Suplexes, but Strowman continued to be one step ahead. One mistake, Lesnar hit an F-5 and that was all she wrote.

Win or lose, Brock Lesnar is still BROCKKKKK LESSSSNARRRR. Braun Strowman, after losing to Brock Lesnar, is what now? Where does he go from here? WWE could have easily put the strap on Strowman for a few months and have Lesnar reclaim the championship in a rematch. Think of it like this: Strowman vs. Lesnar at Rumble. Lesnar wins, Reigns wins Rumble and WWE has their inevitable rematch from 31. This is the route they are wanting to go. You have Strowman solidifying himself as a legit star with championship experience. You have the title defended a few times at Pay-Per-Views where Lesnar is not active. But, now they try to find another suitor somehow for Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. I would be surprised if they have him compete at WWE TLC, even though it is in his home state of Minnesota.

They dropped the ball on creating a new superstar, a guy who needed this win to solidify himself as the “next big thing.” Now, it will be interesting to see what they do with Strowman.
