After weeks of building this revealing moment, Kurt Angle announced that the newest member of the Raw roster is none other than his son, Jason Jordan. According to Angle, he did not know that Jordan was his son until he remembered that he had a little too much fun in college, and is somehow finding out 28 years later than he has a son, who was adopted.
According to the post-Raw interview with Angle and Jordan, the former American Alpha teammate stated that he found out that he was adopted when he graduated college, and it made him want to know more about his birth. He then was able to schedule a meeting with his biological mother, who shared the information with him. Corey Graves comes into the picture due to being good friends with Jordan, and being there for Jordan to confide to.
Overall, the reveal angle was a bit underwhelming, but reveal angles have not been a strong point for WWE over the past few years, such as the “Higher Power” angle and Vince McMahon bringing back the nWo. However, it does give Jason Jordan a much more prominent spot other than being barely showcased on SmackDown Live. Unfortunately, though, it splits up American Alpha, who had a great deal of potential but was severely underutilized.
Obviously, WWE has a plan worked out from this whole ordeal. Hopefully, it will result into some must-see content, with both parties leaving the fans intrigued.
Personally, it looks like a big ruse.
The first step is to bring a large amount of emotion on Angle, which WWE certainly did. Also, during the sit-down interview, Angle mentioned that he will be a supportive father, and not let Jordan down the way that he did his children years ago.
Now, here is where the storyline brews.
Angle has shared through numerous media outlets that he had a desire to wrestle again. While many felt that he was not going to return until closer to WrestleMania, WWE may have realized that he would be a great asset to the SummerSlam card.
It has been nearly three-and-a-half months since Stephanie McMahon has been on WWE television, following going through a table at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. Now, with Jordan in the mix, it would be an interesting way to insert her back in.
Ultimately, Stephanie can pull a ruse on Angle and reveal that Jordan is indeed not his son. Instead, they wanted Angle to be vulnerable enough so that he would denounce his position as General Manager. If Angle remains resilient, this is where Triple H could come in to defend Stephanie, which would set up a Angle vs. Triple H match at WrestleMania.
