Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown Live “History Making Announcement Shakes An Entire Division”

Money in the Bank Participants Battle

With three weeks away from one of my favorite Pay-Per-Views of the year, all of the participants did battle in two separate matches. Smackdown kicked off with Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn doing battle against Baron Corbin and Kevin Owens. As Owens and Corbin targeted and took out Zayn, Nakamura had to be the guy that saves the day. When he pushed Owens into Corbin, Baron got upset. He would strike down his opponent and then get taken out by Sami. Shinsuke set up and connected with the Kinsasha for the win.

Later in the night, Dolph Ziggler defeated Georgia’s own AJ Styles… in Atlanta. Dolph won clean, after a superkick to the side of the face of Styles. In a match that lasted about 15 minutes, Ziggler showed us once again that he is a consistently strong performer in the ring. Was I surprised to see him win clean? Absolutely. I do not dislike it though, especially since he is the one guy that I do not think many people think he can win at MITB. He has been there before and has little to gain if he won the briefcase.

Both matches were very enjoyable and on different level of build. Some surprises on a Tuesday night is never a bad thing. It worked for Jinder, didn’t it?

At the end of Smackdown Live, they accomplished many things.

  1. They focused their main spotlight on who is next to fight for the world champion, without forgetting about protecting Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton.
  2. The women took a huge leap into main event status and put on the most consistent part of the show
  3. The Tag Team Division seems plentiful after a few months of obscurity.
  4. Smackdown Live knows the balance between creative and original content in a two hour show.
