Shinesuke Nakamura vs. Bobby Roode
Strong Style vs. Fashion Style. Leather gear vs. Custom made suits. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Bobby Roode could be one of the greatest feuds in NXT history, if it is given time. Many feel this was rushed, but I am getting to the point where I need to see these guys battle. It is Roode and Nakamura at the top, with nobody else really close to that. This will NOT be a one-off feud, so how do they book it?
After the violins stop and the choir of “GLORIOUS” ends, the match is going to tell quite a story. This is the coming out party (ring work) for Bobby Roode. Every match has given us just enough of him offensively, but not his fullest abilities. They always book it to us wanting more of Bobby Roode. I feel that we will get that at NXT Takeover: San Antonio.
It is crazy to me to think that the future relies on two guys that are 40 and 36 years old in NXT, but that is a big example of how the times are changing. WWE is not necessarily looking 10-15 years in advance like they did with John Cena. They are looking more like 5-10 years and giving the fans alternative characters to cheer for. Bobby Roode and Shinsuke Nakamura are both primed to become world champions on Monday or Tuesday nights, but the time is not quite near. So, what should WWE do?
I would love to see this feud take a huge turn and have Bobby Roode become champion, but it’s too soon. If Nakamura wins, how do we save Bobby Roode? Or, is he already to the point where nothing can really harm his stock in NXT? Your guess is as good as mine, but I do think Roode’s championship victory should be in a few months and not tonight.
Winner: Shinesuke Nakamura
