WWE Universal Championship
The WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens took on Roman Reigns in the main event of WWE Roadblock: End of the Line. Surrounding this excellent match, that featured broken tables, Frog Splashes, Spears, Superman Punches and everything in between was the question of Chris Jericho. After a good 20 minutes, Chris Jericho came down to the ring. Roman and Kevin were on the ground, as Chris Jericho hit a Codebreaker on his former best friend. The match would end in a disqualification, which means Chris Jericho helped Kevin Owens retain the championship. After, they hugged and celebrated. That is, until Seth Rollins came out. Jericho would get hit with a Shield Powerbomb from Reigns and Rollins. As Owens tried to escape, Seth and Roman hit him with a powerbomb through the announce table on the stage. The two former shield members stood tall to end the night.
I liked how Chris Jericho looked to turn on Kevin Owens, but ultimately helped him out. Yes, this was predictable but it continues the chances for a Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho championship match. This feud NEEDS to have the championship on the line. Triple H and Seth Rollins does not necessarily need a title and Roman Reigns is the United States Champion. If I am WWE, I make sure I make Jericho vs. Owens as important as possible. What better way than to have the Universal Championship on the line?
I predicted it to happen at Royal Rumble, but maybe WWE is going to keep it going until WrestleMania? Chris Jericho could be a guy that somehow wins the Royal Rumble and head to face his best friend. When you look at the first PPV in January, there are so many questions to be answered on both shows and not everything is predictable. I really hope this night is a stepping stone for 2-3 big matches out of RAW heading into WrestleMania season. It was logical, but still a very good night of entertainment.
