WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
For “one last time,” The Miz and Dolph Ziggler did battle for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. A Ladder Match would end this rivalry, one that has really carried a lot of Smackdown over the past three months. When it was all said and done, A kick below the belt on Dolph Ziggler gave The Miz his victory and continuing to be the WWE Intercontinental Champion.
The last title held by Daniel Bryan was the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Is it irony? Yes, yes it is. I will get to Dolph in a moment, but The Miz and Daniel Bryan CONTINUE to plant the seeds for Bryan potentially returning to the ring. The only place acceptable would be WrestleMania and I think it is more likely now than less likely. We saw Shane get involved in a match and I think WWE will allow Daniel Bryan to fight one more time. If anything, The Miz is a safe and smart wrestler. Their history dates back to when NXT was not even NXT, when Daniel Bryan took the spot on John Cena’s team over The Miz. Everything is there to make this match happen, aside from the health. I think Daniel Bryan signs off on medical clearances and gets back into the ring for a match at WrestleMania 33.
Dolph Ziggler will be a Royal Rumble entrant, maybe get himself a mid card feud and know that he will be involved in a match at WrestleMania. All of his great feuds are in the fall and into the winter. Look at his Survivor Series wins, his TLC match win against John Cena. We all love Dolph, but we all know where he goes from here heading into WrestleMania season.
The Ladder Match was solid, with some good spots and both men being more physical and aggressive with the surroundings given to them. This has been Smackdown’s best feud since the split, but it is time for both men to move on.
