Alexa Bliss Attacks, Women’s Tag Team Match
Things are still heating up on Smackdown Live with the Women’s Division. First, Becky Lynch makes her way down to the ring. She would quickly be stopped by Alexa Bliss, as she attacks her from behind. She punches and beats her down, takes the title from her waist and raises it in the air. She slowly walks away and that ends a quick, yet effective segment.
Later in the night, Naomi and Nikki Bella took on Carmella and Natalya. Carmella hits a Bronco Buster in the corner, followed by slaps to Naomi. A double suplex from her and Natalya followed by a diving dropkick to get Nattie a two count. Naomi reverses a move and finally tags in Nikki. Nikki hits a few clotheslines and dropkicks. Carmella kicks her in the back on the outside, but gets tossed into the ring. It is Nikki and Carmella battling back and forth now, but Natalya takes out Naomi and gets back into the ring. The distraction is just enough, as Carmella rolls her up for the win.
Tonight was really a focus on challengers and heels. Becky gets attacked, which I really liked. I want to see more anger and more energy from Alexa, which we got in a short and effective bit. We also saw a solid tag team match with Carmella continuing to get over on Nikki. Even though Naomi is somewhat overlooked here, she is being used very well. Let her use her flash and athleticism to get a younger Carmella over in the ring. Carmella is gritty and small. She needs to have a real fighter’s mentality, with cheap shots and tactics. I thought both segments do something to progress their respected storylines.
