Mid Card Titles
The Miz vs. Apollo Crews was the definition of an average 10 minute match. The feud itself seemed out of nowhere and too rushed. Apollo Crews’ athleticism is excellent, a combination of Lashley and AJ Styles. You have a guy that they can build great matches around, but it seemed a little off tonight with The Miz.
The Miz’s character is at an all-time high, but who can WWE give us to make the WWE Intercontinental Championship matches more detailed and more important? This seemed to be a one-off, with Crews taking a clean loss. I was surprised for that finish, also. It shows that WWE is still not sold on some of the New Era superstars. Time will tell where he goes from here, but his talent in the ring will always be there. They just need to give us a reason why to care for him outside of his ring work.
Roman Unleashes Hell
The match never really took place, as Roman Reigns and Rusev beat the hell out of each other on the outside of the ring. Steel steps, chairs and the natural animalistic instinct was a great part of this night. Many people will question why this match did not take place, but I like it.
We were given 20 minutes on Raw, given a win from Roman Reigns. Doesn’t this do more for the continued development and rebuild of Roman Reigns than a potential 12-15 minute match where he might win but not win the championship? Rusev did look weak, but he still has the title and the woman. I do not think this really hurts his credibility that much. I am excited to see what happens with these two guys because both need wins and both need to be protected.
