The 05/09/16 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw reviewed in about 4 minutes – featuring a big match up between The Roman Empire (aka The Family) and The Bullet Club (aka The Club), Big Cass gets a main event match, yet another NXT star debuts and is WWE telling the best story of 2016 right now?
CHRIS JERICHO HIGHLIGHT REEL
Last week, the fans lost one of their favourite onscreen talents: Dean Ambrose’s potted plant Mitch. Chris Jericho, being one sick individual, paraded the broken remains of everyone’s most beloved talk show decoration right in the middle of the ring to open the show. I mean, WWE has done some bad taste angles in the past – the whole Katie Vick mess, Big Boss Man stealing Big Show’s dad’s coffin – but this one…I just wish they would leaf it alone.
Anyone?
It was enough to annoy Big Cass, so Stephanie McMahon made him vs Jericho for tonight’s main event. You can just imagine Vince backstage, rubbing his legs and muttering over and over again,‘he’s 7 foot tall, you can’t teach that, he’s 7 foot tall…’
SAMI ZAYN BEAT THE MIZ
The Intercontinental Title picture is pretty good at the moment – three excellent workers and The Miz. I kid, I like The Miz. He’s got Maryse with him.
Sami winning this decent match means he’ll be in the Fatal Four Way at WWE Extreme Rules for the Intercontinental title, along with Kevin Owens and Cesaro. Poor old Zack Ryder – he was the champion only five weeks ago. Which is why Shane makes this match: if Ryder can beat Kevin Owens, he’ll take his spot at Extreme Rules!
KEVIN OWENS BEAT ZACK RYDER
But he didn’t. Owens won. Here’s the other stuff that happened!
BARON CORBIN BEAT DOLPH ZIGGLER
Does this mean Corbin and Ziggler’s feud is over now? This was a decisive victory for Baron. I can’t see where else they can go with it.
R-TRUTH BEAT FANDANGO
R-Truth with Tyler Breeze in his corner beat Fandango accompanied by Goldust. This is all part of the long-running bromance feud between Goldust and Truth, and provided the night’s most likely talents to be released at the next WWE Future Endeavours Friday.
PAIGE BEAT CHARLOTTE
I loved this match. Everything from Charlotte mocking Paige’s ‘This is my house’ taunt and Paige doing the Flair strut, all the way to the hectic finish with Ric and Shane McMahon. Paige rolled up Charlotte in the ending commotion, hopefully setting her up as a future title contender soon.
BECKY LYNCH BEATEN UP BACKSTAGE BY EMMA AND A DEBUTING DANA BROOKE
Continuing the Becky/Emma feud that started last week, Lynch was attacked backstage by two giant boobs in a glittery corset with a woman attached to them. That’s right, WWE NXT’s Dana Brooke has arrived as part of EnD – which stands for Emma and Dana. The Women’s division is feeling even more fleshed out with this. That flesh mainly being Dana’s cleavage.
SIN CARA BEAT RUSEV
Rusev was one of the few entertaining parts about the League of Nations, and now he’s back as a power couple with Lana. Kalisto kicked him in the head at the end of this match while Lana distracted the referee, and Sin Cara got the pin. Rusev was cheated!
THE DUDLEYS BEAT THE NEW DAY
And The Dudleys beat The New Day after interference from The Vaudevillians.
Watch the video above to find out Oli’s thoughts on The Family (Roman Reigns and The Usos) vs The Club (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows), Big Cass in the main event, and what might just be the WWE’s best storyline of the year!
