Kalisto defeated Alberto Del Rio
Smackdown starts with some John Cena calling out Alberto Del Rio and wanting a title match. Del Rio does not give it to him and ends up getting a match against Kalisto. Del Rio connects with a running dropkick, followed by a suplex and then sends Kalisto into the corner. He connects with a big boot and is really in control. More kicking and attacking of the ribs as Kalisto looks hurt. He fires back with a Springboard corkscrew, but his offense is cut short. Del Rio hits a powerbomb for two and then a DDT. He mocks John Cena, who is at ringside. Cena distracts him, which allows Kalisto to gain some strength back. He reverses a Cross Armbreaker and hits a hurricanranna for the win.
Obviously, with John Cena getting surgery and out for quite some time, this is an opportunity for someone to step up. Yes, there are many options but I actually like Kalisto going after Alberto Del Rio. Nobody cheers for Del Rio, so this is a chance for a guy who may not be completely over to get over.
No thank you to Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler or any other guy that has been there before. Kalisto has shown the ability to carry a match and, with more time, can really develop a unique character behind that mask. WWE needs to go all in or nothing right now with Kalisto. Unless Sin Cara comes back, which would change my opinion.
MizTV Is Getting Old
MizTV features many of the guys that you would expect to be in the Royal Rumble. You also had The New Day come out and be entertaining. They all start brawling with Woods being the last one standing. They make an 8 man tag team match with The Miz and The New Day vs. Dolph Ziggler, Neville, R-Truth and Goldust. The faces won that match, which is all you really need to know.
I think MizTV is a terrible segment. It used to be pretty good, but maybe since Miz is not really relevant that it does not do it for me. Just like The Peep Show, it is very boring and lacks creativity. I am against this because you could have an actual announcer or commentator take over. I did like Edge’s or even Chris Jericho because they were a BIG DEAL. There is nothing that this segment does aside from TRY to get The Miz over more as a heel. Reboot or remove because this segment has been very lackluster for quite some time.
