Isenberg Reacts: Impact Wrestling “More Wrestling, Less Talking”

Why Are They So Good?

impact wrestlingEddie Edwards and Davey Richards compete against one another on Impact Wrestling. Like you would assume, this was an EXCELLENT match. It ends up in a draw, thanks to the time limit. I can break down the nuts and bolts of this match, but I often wonder how these guys are just so good.

They aren’t 6’4. They aren’t 250 pounds. They are not overwhelming on television. They are, in fact, two of the best wrestlers in the world. There is nothing you can say negatively about these guys when they step inside the ring. The Wolves have been great for such a long time and shine every night they get a chance to compete. When I look at these guys, I often wonder if there is a better tag team ever.

The motions are smooth and the execution rarely fails. They have a simple, yet believable gimmick. The fans connect with them inside and outside of the ring. Their facial expressions and mannerisms are always “just right.” They may never be as marketable like Jeff or Matt Hardy, but Eddie and Davey are in a league of their own. I could watch these guys wrestle for an hour, two hours. Hell, give them the entire show! The Wolves are one of the best and most consistent things going in TNA. It is hard to stay this good for this long, this consistent for this long. They have and will continue to do that.

Manik defeated Mandrews

In an X-Division type match, Manik and Mandrews put on an entertaining bout. One that featured two guys who could carry the division and carry it proud. So, I beg the question: why are they competing for the world title instead of focusing on the X-Division Championship?

Do not oversaturate a series just to put bodies in it and think it will make other guys important. I am not going to continue to complain about something that is not going to be resolved, so I will say that this match was fun to watch and the talent involved were successful in making this more than just “another” match on the card for tonight.

But… X-DIVISION!
