Another Man Falls
Six man tag team action kicked the second hour of Smackdown off, as Jimmy Uso teamed with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose to take on The New Day. The action picked up when Reigns connected with a Superman Punch and tagged in Jimmy to go crazy. Wyatt’s graphic appeared and the lights go out. When they come back on, Jimmy is laid out at the hands of Bray, Braun and Luke.
Repeat success. Laying out Randy Orton was predictable and tonight was predictable as well. They send out warnings about teaming with Reigns and Ambrose and take out another guy. With less than two weeks left, they can do this next week as well and cruise to Night of Champions. I would not be surprised to see maybe Mark Henry or some “larger” wrestler get taken down as well, showcasing the strength of Strowman. I like this. It is simple storytelling, which is something that tends to get complex when too many hands are writing the scripts.
Can this really work?
Stardust and The Ascension are together. The Lucha Dragons fall to the Cosmic Wasteland. My question is this: can it really succeed? It is certainly different and unique. I fear that they are not going to have legit competition, cruise through mediocre talent en route to them becoming mediocre themselves. If they really wanted them to be important, throw them to Wyatt Family, Reigns/Ambrose and other teams that have credibility. They won’t because they are using this to fill time and try something. The ONLY way it gets over is if the crowd attaches themselves to it like they did with The New Day.
Want to bet that it does not happen? I’ll take that bet any day. I hope it works, but I highly doubt we see this team together a few months from now.
