Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose defeated The Wyatt Family
In another really good match, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose picked up the victory over Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. I cannot say enough of Luke Harper and how skilled he is in the ring. He wrestles like a cruiserweight who decided to eat the farm. I like how smooth and operational he is with Wyatt, functioning like a well-oiled machine.
Harper looked great and Bray did his usual thing in the ring. I was surprised to see them lose tonight, however, because they are the new pair back together. I am not sure why they lost. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose should have gotten screwed over or have some sort of mistake, leading to their downfall. Now would be a time where you push Harper and Wyatt as a dominant team. They split before because they kept losing. Now was not the time to have them suffer a loss, their first one together in quite some time.
The former Shield members should go onto a feud with The New Day. They are over and Ambrose is so popular to put The New Day back as heels. I think this could elevate The New Day and really help Reigns and Ambrose stay “revelant” while other guys take up the main event spots. Time will tell. The match was really good, but the ending was less to be desired for. Too scripted… but wait, it is wrestling.
Seth Rollins is the Best in the World
It took a little bit of time to figure it out, but Seth Rollins is the best thing WWE has. Time and time again, he has proven to be excellent in the ring and really good on the mic. Tonight, at SummerSlam, was no different. Seth got all of the offense in early, flying all over the ring and onto the outside. He also connected with some impressive power moves, deadlifting John Cena off the mat and powerbombing him into the corner. The skill, the strength and the attention to detail makes him the best wrestler in the world. His gear? Fantastic. He looked the part and became the first ever WWE and United States Champion, simultaneously. This will be something he can use for the rest of his career, similar to what Chris Jericho did when beating The Rock and Stone Cold in the same night to become the first undisputed WWE Champion.
As for John Cena, he continues to elevate his game in the ring. Even though he badly botched the springboard stunner, that was really his only fault. I think we can shy away from that move, because it fails more than it succeeds. He took a beating tonight, but came back from a “broken freaking nose” to put on a classic bout at SummerSlam. This was definitely the best match of the night.
Headlines. Mainstream Media. This is why Jon Stewart interfered. Maybe he sticks around for a little bit, but maybe he doesn’t. WWE is smart and knows a regular win for Rollins may not grab ESPN headlines or Fox headlines. Jon Stewart did his due diligence tonight and did not bother me at all. The interference… okay, maybe a little too staged and he stalled too much. I am not going to rate this match any lower because of that. Seth Rollins = Money.
