Ryback vs. The Miz vs. Big Show
In a match that had little interest to me, Ryback defended his title against two polar opposite of opponents. This match was pretty much how I expected it to go down. Ryback and Show exchanged some big moves to one another, with The Miz trying to steal the win. Ryback hit a few nice moves and continues to improve with his speed in the ring. I feel like he is no longer a liability in the ring to his opponents. Some of the best assets of The Miz are his ability to sell and his ability to make his opponents look good at his expense.
It looked like The Miz would sneak a win, but Ryback would have none of that. He picks up the win and Big Show is on the outside looking depressed. I thought the match was simply average. They tried to do so much with Ryback and Big Show that the pace of the match tended to drag a bit. I also can see Big Show vs. Ryback continuing, which I am not in favor of. Ryback should face guys in the ring that make him look as good as he has become.
Rusev vs. Dolph Ziggler
The heat was there and the crowd was into it. I do not want to say that it did NOT deliver, but I wanted more. With the return of Ziggler, fitting for SummerSlam, he should have went over on Rusev. Maybe the problem for me was that the storyline was more focused on the two women on the outside and not as much on the guys doing the wrestling. It was a good match, but not great.
Dolph and Rusev, contradictory to their size difference, work a similar offense in the ring. They rely more of fast moves and their feet. Ziggler and Rusev exchanged some great moves, but something felt a little off. I can’t really explain it, but it felt like a main event on Raw and not an important match for both guys on a crowded SummerSlam card. They left it open, which tells me a mixed tag team match is in the works and that both men will continue their rivalry.
Amell and Neville Shine at SummerSlam
In a match that seemed intriguing for many, Stephen Amell and Neville picked up the win at SummerSlam. There was no way that they would love this match, considering that Hollywood rarely loses in WWE. Amell held his own and even did much more than I expected. He took a beating and took it very well. When Neville came in, he exploded with some excellent moves off the ropes. A corkscrew splash, some exciting kicks and showcasing his agility was what made him stand out.
Amell finished it off with a move from the top, a crossbody onto the outside. Neville hit the Red Arrow, as the Green Arrow looked on, for the win.
All in all, a decent tag team match that accomplished what it needed to. I love how Stardust literally carried this feud by himself. Neville rarely speaks, Barrett was a random throw in and Amell needed one week to make it intriguing. Mission was accomplished. Good match.
