Dean Ambrose vs. Luke Harper
As expected, this was one of my more enjoyable matches to watch. Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper are really good at their craft, being able to tell a story through all of their physical actions. The match took an unexpected turn when they go backstage and Harper throws Ambrose into the production trucks. Harper tries to escape in a truck. Ambrose tries to grab him but Harper peels out with Ambrose in the window. The announcers are not sure what is going on, so the match somewhat ends like this.
Later in the night, The SUV from earlier crashes into some equipment during a backstage interview. Luke Harper escapes and Dean Ambrose tackles New Day from the roof. He chases Harper back into the area and they continue to exchange blows back and forth. Luke Harper hits a big slam onto chairs and piles up Ambrose with the chairs. Ambrose is able to get up and stop Harper, hitting Dirty Deeds for the win.
These two guys just get it. They get what to do to entertain the fans and they put their bodies on the line. I really enjoy Luke Harper but, like I said on CSR this past week, Dean Ambrose needs to start piling up wins on Pay-Per-Views. If he doesn’t, what is his value as a face? Harper can bounce back, but I do think these guys could be in line for an Intercontinental Championship run in 2015. I always appreciate the unexpected and the creativity.
Kiss Me Arse Match
Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus square off in a heated feud with a bully and a fan favorite. Dolph gets the early advantage by keeping a fast and athletic pace. Sheamus counters a Fameasser and hits a powerbomb.
Sheamus hits him a few times and is able to get Ziggler in a Cloverleaf. Dolph kicks out of it and hits a beautiful Superkick. Sheamus connects with a backbreaker and a side suplex for two. Dolph ducks a Brogue Kick and almost steals a win. After some more shenanigans and reversals, Sheamus loses by a surprise roll-up from Ziggler. After the match, Sheamus attacks and does not kiss Ziggler’s backside. Sheamus gets down on his knees, low blows Dolph and hits a Brogue Kick. Dolph, knocked out, has to kiss the backside of Sheamus.
Albeit a terrible gimmick match, I do like the feud these two are putting together. Neither guy really NEEDS a championship right now. I was very surprised that Dolph Ziggler won, especially since WWE is doing all that they can to make Sheamus a big time heel in the company.
I disagree with the outcome, even if Sheamus getting the post-match attack to stand tall. Wins are wins and losses do nothing for a guy that needs momentum to be viewed as a main event heel in a company that lacks it aside from Seth Rollins. The match could have been so much more. It was just a good Raw match with an awful gimmick.
