Let’s Book WrestleMania 31: HELL IN A CELL – John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar, One More Time

So the first thing we want to do is get the belt off Lesnar. That’s not an easy task if we want everyone involved to look strong. Here’s what we need to make this happen:

  1. The Rumble match itself cannot be the final match of the night. The show must end with the title.
  2. John Cena must win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
  3. Lesnar and Cena will brawl after the match, and Paul Heyman will stop the “Beast” from murdering him.
  4. The Authority will come out to finish off Cena.
  5. The formerly “fired” babyfaces will attempt to make the save, and a chaotic brawl will break out.
  6. Sting will make an appearance, and will brawl with Triple H to the back, showing random bits of their fight on the Titantron to add to the overall chaos.
  7. Seth Rollins will use the distractions to quietly cash-in Money in the Bank.
  8. Seth Rollins becomes WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

So a lot of this is necessary for other matches on the WrestleMania card, but ultimately this sets up everything we need.

It’s very important that Cena win the title, and Rollins does not cash-in on Lesnar. You need the heel to go over the babyface, and we’re not trying to book for Rollins vs. Lesnar at ‘Mania.

Of course, because two title changes happened, they are both entitled to a rematch, and a second 3-way will be booked for the main event of WWE Fast Lane in February. Rollins will end up winning this match after letting his opponents basically destroy each other, stealing the victory. If Brock isn’t available to wrestle at Fast Lane, a ruling can be made that he isn’t entitled to a rematch because the title changed hands again after Cena beat him for it, which only fuels the reason for the final chapter more.

I like the idea that a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania signifies the end of a rivalry. Plus, it’s a match Brock has never lost (to be fair, he’s only ever been in ONE, but it was against the Undertaker).

And that’s how you book John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. Again, I understand that this maybe isn’t the big, flashy match that everyone wants to see, but given how good all of their encounters have been over the last 3 years…why not? It promises a hard-hitting, memorable encounter between two megastars, and more importantly it frees up the main event(s) to be filled with the Superstars of the future.
