Stars in Progress: Vince McMahon Down (WAY Down), Swagger/Colter, The Shield Up, CM Punk

It's time for another "Stars in Progress", so let's not waste time:

CM PunkCM Punk – One Step Up

I didn't watch Raw live last night, so I wasn't near Twitter or WZ in an attempt to not be spoiled. Thus, I have no idea what the reaction has been like to CM Punk's actions during the Paul Bearer tribute portions of the show. Were fans upset they used Bearer's death to get Punk, the heel, over, or were they understanding?

Leave your comments below – I'm genuinely curious.

Personally, I don't get offended easily. It sounds like a broken record at this point due to the fact I said the same thing just months ago when they used Jerry Lawler's "real" heart attack to give Punk a rub. I don't mind it, but I can see why some fans (and wrestlers) might.

Take Vickie Guerrero's early involvement with WWE after the passing of Eddie. I believe she knew her husband better than anyone, so if she felt he would be okay with it – and she wasn't the only one who thought that way – why do any of us have the right to complain? I don't think we do.

Jerry Lawler gave his own, personal blessing to WWE, CM Punk, and Paul Heyman after he nearly died of a heart attack, yet somehow fans have a right to get angry?

Undertaker gave last night's show his blessing. Shouldn't that be enough?

"He was a fan. He would have loved the way they interjected Punk in there. He would have loved the urn spot. He would have loved it all. How do I know that? I just do." – a personal friend of William's, who went to his funeral over the weekend, told me this over the phone today.

There's no doubt that everyone involved wishes they didn't have this convenience available to use in a wrestling angle, but those that knew Paul Bearer well knew he would want it this way. That's all I need to be okay with it.

And it worked, too. I'm looking forward to Undertaker beating the hell out of CM Punk today more than I was yesterday.
