Mark Henry – One Step Up
Jack Swagger didn’t benefit from Mark Henry coming back just days after his lackluster return, but the fans certainly do. Henry is a great solution, at least temporarily, for an unimpressive main event picture on Smackdown.
Don’t get me wrong – I’ve been pleasantly surprised with Big Show and Del Rio’s work as of late, but I don’t know if the majority of fans treat it with such kindness. Adding Henry to the mix will hopefully take it to another level of credibility that I’m afraid Del Rio and Show can’t do on their own.
With WrestleMania sneaking up ever so quickly, I’m very interested in how the World Title picture will ultimately end up by then.
If you recall, the supposed plan was Sheamus vs Orton for the title this April. They seem so far away from that now, it would surprise me if they still went in that direction.
Dolph Ziggler cashing in between now and WrestleMania seems less and less likely as each week goes by. Some are still hoping he actually decides to cash in at Met Life, but I won’t be surprised if they decide to wait until after the event.
Mark Henry throws a swerve into the mix. He could win at EC and go on to face Del Rio at the big show. Del Rio could get the win and either Dolph cash in immediately after the match or go on to begin a program with him after the fact. It might all come down to how well Del Rio continues to get over as a babyface until then.
I don’t expect Mark Henry will have the type of run he had in the second half of 2011, but I fully anticipate him adding some heat to the top of the Smackdown card for a while.
