BOBBY ROODE – ONE STEP UP
He’s one of the most consistent things going on Impact Wrestling right now. He’s likely going to break the record for the longest reigning TNA World Champion of all time. He cut his hair!
I’m a Roode fan and although a win over RVD isn’t a huge step up, it’s a step up nonetheless. RVD is over and it’s one more match, one more win under Roode’s belt.
Sometimes, longevity is the only thing that seems to work when trying to get someone over. JBL and his title run is a great example of that. The difference between Bradshaw and Roode: Roode was actually believable as champion at the time he won it.
The other difference between the two, and the one that’s in JBL’s favor, is that he had an up-and-coming crowd favorite in John Cena to end his title reign. The win helped put Cena over the top. And also, the loss helped add credibility to JBL’s entire run as champion.
Roode needs that worthy, credible challenger to end this run properly. Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to who that might be.
