Undertaker Returns To Challenge Triple H
One Step Up

Some didn't like Undertaker making the challenge in the first place. Some clearly didn't like the one he challenged being Triple H. Personally, I'm not going to pick on it that much as I feel it's the best option available this year. IF they are going to have Taker on the card at all, rather than holding him off a year when the match wouldn't be overshadowed so much, Triple H is the right guy.

Yes, we are all aware this is actually the third time they'll meet at the big show. It doesn't feel that way. WWE will bill it as their all-important rematch from last year ad they should. Their first encounter at 'Mania is obsolete compared to the backstory and meaning behind the year's and last.

Kudos to WWWE for starting the build NOW. Last year, their match never fully developed into anything special, in my opinion. It didn't have time. Unfortunately for Hunter, he already had an uphill battle making fans care about his his match with Undertaher HALF as much as they did HBK's matches with him the previous two years. It was never going to equal that, but more time would have certainly helped.

This year, Triple H is no longer competing with Shawn Michaels. He's competing with himself and that's a winnable situation.

When Hunter finally accepts the Undertaker's challenge, and he will, I fully expect a better story to develop leading into this year's match than they had last year. HBK will likely be inserted somehow and Hunter will give fans an ounce of reason to believe he "just might" pull off the upset. He won't, but no one wants him to anyway. We just want to pretend there's even a tenth of a perfect chance he could.

We'll get that this year. Maybe even a tenth more.
