If you're not a follower of my Voice of Wrestling radio show with Nick Paglino – live every Monday from 7-8 EST here on WrestleZone.com – I encourage you to check it out. The archive from this past Monday's edition where Billy Gunn (@RealBillyGunn) joined me as interim co-host in Nick's absence is now online. Download the show at VOWLive.com. As I announced this week, VOW will soon be offering live and archived video streaming of the broadcast each week. It's sure to add a lot to the show and I hope it helps attract new fans each and every week. I'll keep you posted.
With in-house notes out of the way, let's take a look at the January 2nd, 2012 edition of Raw that's upon us. There's plenty to look forward to with the Punk/Ziggler Championship match, Brodus Clay's return (we think!) and the reveal of who's behind the 1.2.12 videos.
Speaking of Jericho's return, I still stand by my previous Cashbox column that listed three reasons it wouldn't be Y2J this Monday. Was it supposed to be Jericho? Absolutely. Will it still be Jericho? Probably. Could it end up being someone else? I wouldn't be surprised in the least and if I were a bettin' man, I'd go big or go home. One last question – was I playing "Devil's Advocate" for editorial sake? You bet. Regardless, we're five days away from finding out who it is and I'm ready to cash in.
Here's what I'm wondering now – what are the chances CM Punk actually loses to Dolph Ziggler this Monday? If the recent reports are accurate and WWE officials are genuinely concerned about the low ratings during Punk's segments, it certainly seems this would be a good opportunity to go in a different direction. Add to that, the man behind the 1.2.12 videos is reportedly going to work a program with Punk as well. Jericho or not, WWE could easily use that person to cost Punk the Championship.
It's an option, but I don't see it happening.
