WrestleZone’s Top Ten: WWE Vengeance Matches

Number 2: Randy Orton vs. Edge for the Intercontinental Championship: Hartford, Connecticut, 2004

A show stopper, a show stealer. Randy Orton and Edge would take this Pay Per View over, and not be topped. Both men executed perfect maneuvers on one another, whether it was a neck breaker or a back body drop. Edge and Orton were on the rise in their careers, one building to a legacy, and one starting to create a new road for himself. Edge and Orton put on a battle from beginning to end. What was so great about this match was the physicality, the athleticism, and most importantly the chemistry between both guys. Go back and watch this match, notice the timing, as well as the essence of the reversal when done properly. Edge would capture the IC Title, making this 26 minute match one of my favorites of all time. What would stem from this? Multiple World Championships for both men, as well as numerous Main Events at WrestleMania for The Legend Killer and The Rated R Superstar.
