This Sunday is WWE Vengeance from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. This week, we take a look back at some of the best Vengeance matches over the past decade. It may not be the brightest lights on the marquee for WWE Pay Per Views, but this event has delivered some great moments. This list does not include after 2008 when the name "Vengeance" was dropped. Vengeance: Night of Champions is included in this list.
Number 10: Rob Van Dam vs. Edge for the WWE Championship: Charlotte, North Carolina, 2006
Even though it was the 5th match on the card, and John Cena vs. Sabu was billed as a bigger match, RVD and Edge delivered a great bell to bell title match. Lasting just about 18 minutes, Rob Van Dam would get taken down by a powerful sunset flip powerbomb to the outside early in the match. As the battle went back and forth, Edge was ready to steal a victory, as well as the WWE Championship. Van Dam reversed Edge's move, as Edge went face first into a steel chair. RVD followed up with a Five Star Frog Splash for the victory, retaining the WWE Championship. Athleticism, skilled reversals, and great in ring story telling made this match overlooked, but definitely appreciated after the night ended.
