WrestleZone’s Top Ten: WWE Vengeance Matches

Number 3: Batista vs. Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship in Hell in a Cell: Las Vegas, Nevada, 2005

Brutality, personal conflict, and a physical struggle between two heavyweights were the big stories heading into Hell in a Cell. With the emergence of Batista, Triple H was viewed as a guy on the tail end of his career. Little was it known that Hunter would still be able to carry a company. He carried the feud with Batista and created him into what he became. Choked by a chain and hit with a bat covered in Barbed Wire, Batista would overcome massive pain. The conclusion came when Batista hit a spinebuster on Triple H onto the steel steps, and hit a Batista Bomb for the victory. A blood bath, sweat, and extreme exhaustion would be applauded with a standing ovation from the crowd when Triple H rose up after his loss. The storyline was fantastic, but the match did not disappoint, especially with the questions regarding how much Batista could go in a main event. 27 minutes later, we all saw what these two could accomplish.
