WrestleZone’s Top Ten: WWE Vengeance Matches

Number 4: Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle: Las Vegas, Nevada, 2005

Stemming from an instant classic at WrestleMania months before, this match had all of the ingredients that it did on "The Grandest Stage of Them All." When Shawn Michaels entered a ring, you have a high expectation of greatness, but when Angle and Michaels battled, how could you be let down? This was the best "wrestling" match of the night. Vegas was seeing dollar signs when they fought, which lasted 26 minutes and 11 seconds, What did we get here? Well, a highly contested back and forth brawl, sprinkled in with submission mastery, and excellent timing from HBK. With Michaels in the Ankle Lock, Angle thought he was going to make him tap. Michaels would get to his feet and hit a Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere for the victory. A fantastic match from bell to bell that carried the show into the main event of the night.
