Opening Segment Review:
Impact starts with Sting, who comes out dressed up like Hulk Hogan. He talks about beating Flair, and now gets to face Hogan at BFG. Hogan is upset that Sting is dressed like him. Hogan says that the match will not happen. Hogan says he is not medically cleared, but Sting shows footage of Hulk beating him down with a chair from a few weeks ago. Sting and Hogan exchange words and Sting says that is proof that he still has it, and will fight him at Bound For Glory. Hogan says that Sting always has chased his career, and wants to be like Hogan. Sting is acting insane in the ring, until Eric Bischoff comes out. Bischoff talks about what Hogan has done in wrestling, and he is the reason people have jobs in this industry. Sting is not listening, and punches out Bischoff. Hogan pretends to be injured after kicking the ropes. Sting begins to taunt him and says he will see him at Bound For Glory.
Reaction:
I enjoyed the back and forth interaction between these two stars. I can complain for days about how they should not be wrestling at Bound For Glory, but I, along with you, have to deal with it. They are two guys who have paved the way for younger stars in the wrestling business, and I continue to enjoy Sting. Hogan has been the same because of who he is and what he has done. I like how they are treating this as “the big match” even though all of the fans do not think so. This segment gets a B-, because they are giving it time to build and doing all they can with veterans without a physical confrontation…yet.
Karen Jarrett is talking to Brooke Tessmacher and announces her in a Queen’s Qualifier match. Her and Traci Brooks also argue backstage, saying she is not running a whore house. Kazarian comes in and says Karen is worth only 50 cents.
Brooke Tessmacher vs Mickie James in a Queen’s Qualifier Match Review:
Brooke starts on the offensive, putting Mickie in an armbar, until she reverses it with an armdrag. Mickie applies an armbar and hits a hiptoss. She locks in a headlock, but Brooke reverses hit and sends her to the ropes. Mickie slides under Brooke, and connects with a dropkick. Brooke hits her own dropkick onto Mickie.Mickie hits some quick clotheslines and knocks her down with a flapjack. James finishes her off with her finishing tornardo DDT.
Reaction:
You can tell that Mickie James is the cream of the crop in TNA. She can work with anyone and make a Knockout’s match somewhat watchable. Tessmacher is just okay in the ring, as it seems she questions herself more often than having confidence in what her offense consists of. James gets into the title match because she is reliable and consistent. This segment gets a C+.
