I expected most of the Impacts to be as bad as they were. I could categorically tell you what was right and wrong with each individual submission, but this site doesn’t pay me enough. The main problem is that nobody really understands what the term “written show” means. Of course everyone had their ideas and angles, and TNARICK proved that he’s got way too much time on his hands. But i wanted to see if anyone could write their vision of what the show would look like from start to finish. Of utmost importance to this was the fact that i wanted to see the promos in writing. What words do you see coming out of the characters mouths? Of course some of you think that the wrestlers should be given creative control, but writing out “Raven talks about wanting the belt” doesn’t work. As i’m reading i want to see the show in my mind being played out. Bullett points in matches were important, also. Some of you wrote them out like the nerds that report the matches on websites and in the sheets, move for move. That is completely unecessary. Wrestlers are usually given the finish, and often run-ins and post match. They work out the rest themselves.
Here were some of the things i found to be extremely entertaining.
Post 20) Fearthewrath2000: The creation of Black Love, the torrid affair between Black Reign and Awesome Kong.
Post 35)Byuusetsu: Chris Master”piece” and Kip James form the tag team The Ass Masterpieces.
Post 52) Kingdomcome: The debut of Sonjay Fresh.
Post 55) Capncrunchisma and post 56) Andrelegeant were pretty creative, but i needed to see the promos.
So what it all came down to was who created the best vision. To me, it was post 79) Newmvp. It had a couple threads throughout the show, it made sense, and it had a good ending that should get you to tune in next week. It told a good story. Mind you, it wasn’t great, because for a 2 hour show you need more stuff in the segments, but Newmvp has what it takes to “write” a show. Congrats. I don’t know what you win, other than the respect of The Disco Inferno, one of the smartest guys in the business.
The main thing this challenge did was show that even though everyone thinks they know what to do with tna, nobody knows how to do it. I was expecting Chris “The self-professed authority” Shulz and Kevin Kelly and Konnan to submit their versions, but i guess they’d rather just continue to show the world that they’re “all show, and no go.” I guess when you can find someone to pay you to be an armchair quarterback, there’s really no reason to show some balls and actually get in the game.
