Nick’s Pay-Per-Review: WWE Breaking Point 2009

Submission Match For The World Heavyweight Championship: This was the biggest disappointment of the night. For two reasons: one, it wasn’t the wrestling match these two technical wrestlers should have had, and two, the finish has been done to death longer than death has even been around. This match lasted a mere 12 minutes, and was booked to make it look like CM Punk had no chance of going toe-to-toe with The Undertaker. He immediately tapped to Hell’s Gate, as opposed to what should have happened where both of them apply their respective submission finishers a few times before one of them comes even close to tapping out. Then you have the screwjob finish of the match. The biggest problem with the finish is that I feel sorry for the fans in Montreal that pay their hard earned money to see the screwjob constantly being rehashed in some way shape or form. Honestly, I don’t have a problem with the match finish so much as I have a problem with the fact that it never changes its style. It’s always the same thing, and quite frankly I think it’s unfair to people in Montreal who wait patiently for WWE to come to their area, and then get the screwjob shoved down their throats. It wasn’t the fans that created the screwjob, so stop punishing them for it! CM Punk and The Undertaker better have one “hell” of a cell match to make up for last night. On a side note, Triple H’s line to HBK saying “it was all his fault” was hilarious. 5.5 Stars.
