The RAW Ladder
By Bill Pritchard for Wrestlezone.com
I write the RAW Ladder, so I won’t talk about how stupid it is that Smackdown’s new champion is Rey Mysterio. I won’t talk about how the guy injured the Undertaker IRL and only got the strap because he wanted to take a break and this is their way of keeping him on TV for the time being. And the last thing I want to talk about is how they ruined any credibility Swagger had left by jobbing him out lately and making him lose clean on TV. So like I said, this is the RAW Ladder, so let’s talk about the new champion on Monday nights.
Sheamus won his 2nd WWE Title on Sunday, and beat Edge, Randy Orton and John Cena to get it. OK sure, the NXT 7 may have helped him a bit, but he still pinned Cena and won the match. He never should have lost the title in the first place, but we got a good feud with Triple H out of him. He has been on a roll for a few weeks now, and the title does nothing but help him. Sheamus is already cocky but now he can go around saying he beat the top three guys to get to the championship. I like that he is booked as being a powerful heel who can back it up in the ring. He can still go around saying Cena never beat him, and will probably say he never will. This can make him look strong until they eventually continue the feud with Triple H when he comes back, because that one is already personal and the title just adds to the pot in that war.
Sheamus ran away from the NXT guys on Sunday and Monday to get out of harms way. I don’t see it as him being a coward I see him being smart. Let’s break it down this way: He is a heel and understands 7 on 2 is a stupid fight to try and win, so he got the hell out of dodge. I would do the exact same thing and I’m sure most people would too. Wade Barrett told him that he would have a target on his back as new champion, so things should get interesting for the Irish Curse in the next few weeks.
