Unified Divas Title:
-Layla (w/ Michelle McCool) vs. Natalya
Layla knocks Natalya to the floor to start things off. Natalya manages to fight off the first Michelle McCool attack on the floor. The second attack, however, she was not as successful. Layla scores a nearfall, but Natalya kicks out. Natalya begins fighting back and hits a double-underhook suplex. She tries getting the crowd behind her, but they go the opposite direction with their reaction. Nice. Layla tries taking a hike but Natalya throws her back in the ring. McCool kicks Natalya in the head without the referee noticing, which sets up the pinfall for Layla.
Winner and STILL Unified Divas Champion: Layla
Nick’s Note: Another throw away womens match in a division that hinges on the terrible mic work of LayCool. WWE desperately needs to get back to featuring the women as athletes instead of "entertainers," as a lot of them have some great work to offer when they’re allowed to wrestle. So many people thought Natalya was actually in-line for a push when she became the new #1 contender, but really all she is being used to represent is the "straight man" in the comedy act that LayCool is supposed to be. Problem is there’s nothing funny about their routine.
World Title:
(Buried Alive Match)
-Kane (w/ Paul Bearer) vs. The Undertaker
Undertaker meets Kane on the ramp and begins his assault. Both guys are brawling all over the place, in and out of the ring. Kane is mostly on the defensive so far. He hits Taker with a chair in the ring and now is taking the upper hand in the match. Kane hits a chokeslam. Kane hits a second chokeslam. Kane drags Taker to the dirt and grave location. Taker wiggles his way out and the two exchange punches. Kane tries crawling away as they fight near the open grave. Taker secures the Hell’s Gate. Kane is tapping out, which means nothing of course. Taker lets go after keeping it on for a while and rolls Kane into the grave. Paul Bearer is involved now and almost takes a chokeslam for his trouble. The Nexus make their way to the sight and begin pounding away at Taker. Kane climbs out of the grave. The Nexus hold onto Taker for Kane, allowing him to hit Taker with the urn. Taker falls into the grave. Barrett gives Slater the shovel and he begins covering Taker with dirt inside the grave. Kane tells them to leave. A bulldozer of dirt is dumped onto Taker and Kane gets the win, retaining his title.
Winner and STILL World Champion: Kane
Nick’s Note: Maybe I’m too old, (I’m 30), maybe I’ve seen this story a hundred times before, maybe it’s a combination of both, but in 2010 I just cannot buy into the ghostly/demonic/cartoonish story line that has been the substance of this recent Undertaker/Kane feud. How ironic is it that the Undertaker was seen just one night before at the UFC 121 PPV supporting something that is the new "it" in entertainment/sports, and one night later he’s trying to bury a guy in a pile of dirt next to a ring? It just doesn’t work anymore. And besides that fact, the match was a mess. ‘Taker is visibly not at 100%, and it has shown in his recent work against Kane.
