As far as Christmas-themed matches are concerned, TNA has had several of them. While the promotion may not have had repetitive Miracle on 34th Street Fights like WWE, it has delivered some entertaining (and controversial) matches during the Holiday Season.
These matches, for better or worse, have underwent changes over the course of the year just like the brass. But what thing has remained: entertainment factor. That being said, let’s take a look at some of the best (and bizarre) TNA Christmas-themed matches.
“Christmas Chaos” Six Sides of Steel Cage Match
Booker T, Scott Steiner partnered with The Latin American Exchange against Beer Money Inc. and The Rock ‘n Rave Infection. This match would probably have been great if not for the five minutes it got on the card. Booker T, Steiner, Hernandez, and Homicide picked up the win over their opponents.
TNA Knockouts Santa’s Workshop Street Fight
The Knockouts Division has remained one of TNA’s strengths for as long as the promotion’s been around. The division has produced some great and (highly entertaining) matches over the years. One such match took place on the December 20, 2007, episode of TNA.
ODB, Roxxi Laveaux, Ms. Jackie Moore, Christy Hemme, Ms. Brooks, Awesome Kong, Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, and Gail Kim entered the IMPACT Zone for this non-title anta’s Workshop Knockouts Street Fight.
While this match may not be a mat classic, it did feature some cool moments. Above all, all nine women in this match gave everything they had for fan entertainment.
Silent Night Bloody Night Four Way Hardcore Match
TNA has always managed to stay in the headlines. The promotion gave fans a bizarre match during the Holiday Season years ago. For some reason, TNA management decided to wrap a barbed wire around Christmas Tree.
They also found it best to disguise foreign objects as Christmas presents. The Bloody Night, Silent Night angle was certainly one of the weird angles in TNA. Oh, and it involved Black Reign, Abyss, Rellik (that’s Killer spelled backward) and Shark Boy.
Double North Pole Match
I won’t talk about the segment that preceded this match. It is safe to say that the six men involved in this bout put on a solid show. The match involved Jay Lethal and The Motor City Machine Guns against Johnny Devine and Team 3D.
This turned out to be a surprisingly decent match. Lethal, Alex Shelley, and Chris Sabin put on some fast-paced offense. The babyfaces picked up the win following interference from some performers that had been bullied earlier by Brother Ray as Santa Claus.
Loser Wears Reindeer Suit Ladder Match (TNA Wrestling)
This match between AJ Styles and Frankie Kazarian was arguably the match of the night. For reference, all of these five matches took place at the same TNA taping in 2007. Styles and Kaz have always had incredible chemistry and they showed their unique styles in this match as well.
The post-match angle saw the referee struggle to get the Phenomenal One to wear the reindeer suit. The match itself was extremely physical with some scary-looking bumps. The post-match shenanigans provided entertainment value.
