Not to set overly high expectations if you haven’t seen this match, but simply put, it’s one of the greatest wrestling matches you’ll ever see. We mean it with the utmost seriousness. Davey Richards was running strong as ROH World Champion and he had a high-profile title defense against Michael Elgin.
Since Richards vs Eddie Edwards II was the benchmark match at the time, there were major high expectations for this match. And not only did it deliver, but the two men gifted the fans an all-time classic after practically trying to kill each other. It didn’t feel like a match – it felt like a fight.
In a 25-minute classic, Davey Richards barely survived and retained his ROH World Championship.
