#2.) Tetsuya Naito – New Beginning in Osaka 2017
Tetsuya Naito was the man who dethroned Michael Elgin for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship (which Elgin beat Omega to win) and he was on an absolute tear, having come off a huge Wrestle Kingdom victory and title defense against the former Ace of NJPW – Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Elgin looked to get his revenge against Naito and in an epic encounter, the two would go to war. It was a career-defining match for Elgin and of course, he fell short in his effort. That didn’t change the fact that he looked like an absolute star even after the match, having put Naito through hell and back. Naito certainly earned his glory with the IC title.
