#1.) Johnny Wrestling triumphs
When it comes to feel-good moments in NXT history, the only moment that comes close to the main event of NXT Takeover: New Orleans, is Sami Zayn’s NXT title win in 2014. However, Johnny Gargano took on Tommaso Ciampa in the main event of WrestleMania weekend 2018, a match that was nearly a full year in the making.
There was no title on the line, but it was an unsanctioned match and the most important one on the card. This was the main event and the former DiY members went to war in one of the greatest matches in WWE history. From Ciampa entering to a chorus of boos, to the crowd being 100% behind Gargano, it was one of the best stories ever told, and seeing Gargano submit Ciampa with his knee brace made the event the greatest in Takeover history.
The final shot of Gargano holding Ciampa’s crutch and knee brace high in the air will always go down as one of, if not the greatest moment in NXT history.
