#3.) The Empress begins her reign
Asuka had only been in NXT for around half a year, and in that time, she was clearing the women’s division left and right, with not single loss to her reign. All roads left to one of the biggest clashes in NXT Women’s history, as she took on then-champion Bayley, who was running strong with the title for over 200 days.
While Asuka was no heel, the crowd in NXT Takeover: Dallas in 2016 was well behind The Hugger, who had an unreal connection with the WWE Universe. It was an incredible match, and at the end of it, The Empress Of Tomorrow made Bayley pass out with an Asuka lock, essentially silencing the entire arena.
Asuka would begin her reign as NXT Women’s Champion, one that would last 522 days, making her the most dominant champion in NXT history. She would never lose the title.
