#5.) Stopping frequent title changes
Since December 2017, the United States championship has changed hands 9 times! That’s an average of less than one and a half months per title reign. It’s even crazier because we’ve had eight-day reigns and even a couple of two-day reigns. Simply put, a championship can’t be prestigious if it changes hands so frequently.
The most prestigious titles are those which don’t change hands often. It goes to prove that not everyone can win the title. It’s for the best of the best. Moreover, the longer the reign, the greater the payoff when the title does actually change hands. The superstar who ends up dethroning a long-reigning champion ends up getting a big rub as well.
