Believe it or not, Roderick Strong was originally supposed to join WWE in 2014 around the same period of time as Kevin Owens. However, due to reasons that he never mentioned, he rejected WWE’s offer to him and decided to spend more time on the independent scene. Over the next two years, he would hone his craft and develop a whole new aspect to his game, which changed things for the better.
Rather than just a reckless style, he decided to implement more psychology into his matches, and this made it slightly safer while also getting the crowd more invested. It was a good adjustment to make, and two years after first declining their offer, he ended up joining WWE. His run in NXT has been quite an interesting one, and it’s good that he was never particularly rushed up to the main roster.
He was allowed to go through the process and develop his character. A heel turn in 2018 made a big difference and he hasn’t looked back since. He’s already developed an impressive body of work in WWE and we look at the very best of Roderick Strong.
