Dreya Mitchell has her eyes on AEW’s Kris Statlander.
For the last three years, Dreya Mitchell has made a home for herself on the Canadian independent wrestling scene. Beyond that, though, she hopes to extend her reach south of the border, where she recently mixed it up with Jade Stone at Limitless Wrestling in Maine.
During a recent interview with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Mitchell revealed three dream opponents she’d like to square off with in a potential return to the United States. Sitting at the top of that list is former AEW Women’s Champion Kris Statlander.
“I was talking about her last week, so I’ll say it again, but Becca. Having done Limitless, wink wink, we never know. I’m crossing my fingers. If not, my number number one, Kris Statlander,” Mitchell said. “I know she is signed. I mean, she’s freaking great, but she does some indies sometimes. She has done Mystery [Wrestling] in the past. If you talk about dream matches, I guess that’s the one that I would want.
“Gabby Forza, I’ve had matches with her in tag matches only. And we’ve interacted just a tiny little bit, but I want that singles. Especially her incredible match from last Friday with Willow [Nightingale at Beyond Wrestling], I was locked in. I sat and I didn’t touch my phone. I was like locked in on her. So I know that she’s so great and I would love to tussle with her.”
As it stands, Statlander is set for an AEW Women’s Championship rematch against Thekla at Revolution. Meanwhile, Mitchell continues to shine across indie promotions such as Mystery Wrestling and C4 Wrestling.
