Londyn Dior is eager to learn more from Athena.
This year, Metroplex Wrestling launched a new all-women’s wrestling series, titled Who Runs The World, with its inaugural show taking place in August. Last weekend, the series continued with Who Runs The World 2 from the MPX Event Center in Bedford, Texas.
WrestleZone’s Ella Jay recently caught up with Londyn Dior, one of the rising stars involved in both events, for her perspective on working with the woman behind the launch, Athena. According to Dior, Athena’s guidance has been invaluable.
“I’ve been training with her since October of 2024, so learning under her has just been amazing,” Dior said. “It’s Athena and her husband Matthew Palmer. They’re amazing coaches. I learned so much from her.”
When she’s not defending her Ring of Honor Women’s Championship, Athena is helping to run Metroplex, which she currently co-owns. As Dior attests, Athena (alongside Matthew Palmer) is also helping to teach her and other young talents how to improve their television presence.
“[The important thing I’ve gathered is] just learning more about how to work for TV and how to be grand and larger than life in the ring,” Dior said. “You know what I mean? So I feel like that’s definitely big things that I’ve learned from them. So many little nuances [when working to the camera]. And it’s the littlest things that will have you like ‘Ah!'”
At Who Runs The World 2, Dior battled Maya World and AEW Women’s Champion Kris Statlander in a three-way match.
Londyn Is Inspired By Athena & Other Decorated Champions
When asked about other women who have empowered her on a personal and professional level, Dior pointed to a pair of decorated champions, Bianca Belair and Mercedes Mone.
“I’d definitely say like Bianca Belair, she’s up there as one of my biggest inspirations. I relate to her so, so much. I feel like when I look at her, it’s like I see myself, just the same in all aspects. I just look up to her a lot, Mercedes [Mone] a lot. Athena, she is amazing. Her mind is amazing. It’s a lot of women. I have a long list of women that I just admire.”
