Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Becky Lynch & Tiffany Stratton Go Extreme, Mickie James Challenges Trinity To KO Title Match, Ultra Violette Interview

Becky Lynch defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Tiffany Stratton at No Mercy, Mickie James challenges Trinity to a Knockouts Championship match. Ultra Violette speaks with WrestleZone, and more! Let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!

Becky Lynch Successfully Defends NXT Women’s Championship Against Tiffany Stratton

WWE NXT No Mercy was headlined by an NXT Women’s Championship between reigning titleholder Becky Lynch and the challenger Tiffany Stratton, who lost the title to Lynch on a recent episode of NXT. To raise the stakes, this title match was contested under Extreme Rules.

As expected, both women were left battered and bruised (or bloody, rather) following their Extreme Rules match, which featured the usage of trash cans, tables, steel chairs, a barbed wire bat, and a shopping cart. Stratton began bleeding from her temple early in the battle, while Lynch later sustained a nasty laceration to her arm, one that eventually needed 11 stitches to close up.

The closing moments of the match saw Stratton attempt to nail Lynch with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever onto a stack of chairs. Unfortunately for Stratton, Lynch dodged the move and hit her with a Manhandle Slam onto the chairs to retain the NXT Women’s Championship.

Extreme Rules Reflections

While she didn’t walk away with the NXT Women’s Championship, Tiffany Stratton has seemingly taken her loss in stride, issuing applause for Lynch, and herself, for delivering an epic performance.

“Name an assignment I didn’t understand,” Stratton wrote to Instagram. “I’ve always loved the idea of not being what people expect me to be, but tonight was different. The man @beckylynchwwe brought it to me on another level unlike anyone ever has, but I brought it right back. I said what I said and I’m not going anywhere. See you all in the main event of wrestle-mania sooner rather than later! Toodles.”

Becky Lynch expressed similar sentiments, expressing her respect for Stratton, while also showing off the laceration she sustained during the title bout.

“NbeXT was rocking tonight. The Man brought @tiffanywwe to the main event but she brought it to The Man. Respect. It wasn’t Tiffy time this time. But it will be again. The world tour continues,” Lynch wrote on Instagram. “Stitches and all – last slide is my arm. Shout out to @iamhuntley for drawing this shirt. @kingtroi for being a legend. #NoMercy.”

Despite being sidelined from competing on WWE RAW this week, Lynch will return to action next week as she defends the NXT Women’s Championship against Tegan Nox.

Trinity Set To Defend Knockouts Championship Against Mickie James

Six months after relinquishing the Knockouts World Championship, Mickie James now has a shot to reclaim it.

On last week’s episode of IMPACT Wrestling, Knockouts Champion Trinity faced “The Quintessential Diva” Gisele Shaw in a non-title match. Shaw put forth a strong effort, but in the end, it was Trinity who emerged victorious after forcing Shaw to tap out to her Starstruck submission. On the heels of her victory, Trinity was attacked by Shaw’s ally Savannah Evans, until Mickie James made the save, fending off both Evans and Jai Vidal on Trinity’s behalf.

With Shaw’s entourage out of the equation, James turned her attention to Trinity, noting that the two had never met one-on-one before. Paired with James’ motivation to regain the Knockouts Championship, Mickie James laid out a challenge for Trinity.

“There’s one place I’ve never stood, and that’s across the ring from you. And I don’t think I need to remind you, sis, that you know and I know, and they know that I never lost that championship,” James said. “I miss her pretty bad, and I have a rematch clause that I can invoke whenever I want. And I know exactly where I want that to be. I can’t think of a better place than ‘Hardcore Country’ Mickie James versus Trinity at Bound for Glory.”

After Trinity and James shook hands, IMPACT Wrestling later confirmed that Trinity will defend her Knockouts Championship against Mickie James at their Bound For Glory pay-per-view, which will emanate from Cicero Stadium on October 21.
