Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: Thunder Rosa Wins AEW Women’s Title, CCW Glory, Newest WWE Recruits

Spring is officially here, and women’s wrestling has been blossoming. Thunder Rosa becomes new AEW Women’s Champion, Capital Championship Wrestling gears up for Glory, WWE unveils their newest recruits, and more! Check it out in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!

Thunder Rosa Crowned As New AEW Women’s World Champion

In her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, Thunder Rosa emerged victorious in her battle against Britt Baker.

Last week on AEW Dynamite St. Patrick’s Day Slam, Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa collided inside a steel cage. One day shy of their 2021 Unsanctioned Lights Out Match, Baker and Rosa brought the intensity to a climax in this bitter rivalry.

With the introduction of thumbtacks, steel chairs, and the pain of the steel cage, Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa brought out all the stops with the AEW Women’s World Championship on the line. In the end, though, Thunder Rosa hit Baker with the Fire Thunder Driver onto the thumbtacks to claim the victory. Therefore, Rosa dethrones Britt Baker as the AEW Women’s World Champion.

With this win, Thunder Rosa becomes the fifth woman to hold the championship, ending Baker’s near ten-month reign.

Capital Championship Wrestling Presents “Glory”

Capital Championship Wrestling returns to Delaware this Saturday, March 26th to host their “Glory” show.

Two championships will be on the line among a card stacked with many of the best wrestlers today. Firstly, the inaugural CCW Network Champion will be crowned in an intense eight-woman gauntlet match. This gauntlet includes Capital Championship Wrestling debuts from half the field: Scarlett, Ashley D’Amboise, Edith Surreal, and Brittany Blake. Meanwhile, Rebecca Scott, Devlyn Macabre, Kayla Sparks and Kat Spencer return to CCW in hopes of claiming the gold.

Here are the official competitors in the Gauntlet Match for The Network Championship:

  • Rebecca Scott
  • Devlyn Macabre
  • Kayla Sparks
  • Edith Surreal
  • Brittany Blake
  • Kat Spencer
  • Scarlett
  • Ashley D’Amboise

Rebecca Scott returns for the first time since last August ironically, teaming with Kayla Sparks. Sparks has been a Capital Championship Wrestling staple, currently entangled in a feud with Mother Endless.

Kat Spencer finds herself aligned with the CCW Tag Team Champions, The Renegade Twins. Devlyn Macabre made her CCW debut in February, teaming with Riley Shepard in a loss to The Renegade Twins.

Speaking of the CCW Tag Team Champions, they will be in action in a six-woman tag team match this weekend as well. Teaming with the CCW Champion KiLynn King, Charlette and Robyn Renegade will take on Christina Marie, Vita VonStarr, and Gia Scott this weekend as well. Marie is the current number one contender for the CCW Championship, and will challenge KiLynn King at a future date for the title. Vita VonStarr impressed many in her performance against LuFisto last month at the Battleground event. Gia Scott, a former MCW Women’s Champion, makes her official Capital Championship Wrestling debut here.

More debuts will be featured this weekend, including the debuts of two of the hottest stars in professional wrestling right now. With the NWA Women’s World Championship on the line, reigning champion Kamille will defend against former Pro Wrestling Magic Women’s Champion, Allie Katch. Kamille and Katch meet one-on-one for the first time in a highly anticipated matchup.

Katch placed #58 on Pro Wrestling Illustrated Top 150 Women’s list last year, while Kamille ranked #32. Kamille recently extended her NWA Women’s World Championship reign by defeating Chelsea Green and Kylie Rae at the Crockett Cup over the weekend on March 20th.

In another first-time matchup, Savanna Stone will take on Catalina Garcia. Likewise, both competitors will be making their CCW debuts at Glory as well.

Lastly, “The First Lady of Hardcore” LuFisto will face off with “The Babe With The Power” Willow Nightingale. Both competitors return to Capital Championship Wrestling for an enticing matchup. Lufisto previously defeated Vita VonStarr, while Nightingale, unfortunately, suffered a loss at the hands of Christina Marie. Nevertheless, these two will meet in what should be a spectacular showcase.

Forth Team Added To WrestleMania Women’s Tag Team Championship Match

Last week on Friday Night Smackdown Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan took on Sasha Banks and Naomi in an intriguing tag team matchup. Both teams are currently in line for a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship opportunity at WrestleMania Night 2 on April 3rd. Before the match could decide a winner, all four competitors were attacked by Shayna Baszler and Natalya mid-match.

Accordingly, this tag team matchup ended in a no contest. Following the mid-match attack, Sonya Deville granted Baszler and Natalya a spot in the Women’s Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania.

Now, Carmella and Zelina will defend their championships in a Fatal Four Way tag team match on the Grandest Stage Of Them All in twelve days on night 2 of WrestleMania 38.
