Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up: New Champs Crowned At Sacrifice, New AEW Women’s Title, Revolution Results

Happy International Women’s Day!

New champions have been crowned at IMPACT Wrestling Sacrifice, Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa collided at AEW Revolution, Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley form a tag team, and much more! Let’s break it down in this week’s edition of Women’s Wrestling Wrap-Up!

New Champions Crowned At IMPACT Wrestling Sacrifice

Four women’s matches took place on IMPACT Wrestling’s Sacrifice event over the weekend, including the crowning of new champions.

Firstly, Gisele Shaw and Lady Frost collided on the Countdown to Sacrifice pre-show. Since arriving in IMPACT, Gisele Shaw has garnered some tension with “The Coolest Wrestler You’ll Ever Meet”. Shaw even previously picked up a victory over Lady Frost. At Sacrifice however, Lady Frost evened the score by landing the Frostbite on “The Quintessential Diva” for the victory.

On the main show of Sacrifice, the first of three championship matches began with the Knockouts World Tag Team Championships on the line. The IInspiration (Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay) raised their titles on the line against The Influence (Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood).

After winning the championships at Bound For Glory, the IInspiration would soon turn their attention to Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood. Collectively as The Influence, Rayne and Dashwood utilized their alliance with Kaleb with a K in this championship matchup.

Dashwood would hit a Spotlight Kick on Cassie Lee, which prompted Kaleb to toss a Knockouts Tag Team Title to Dashwood to follow up with. In turn, Dashwood struck Lee in the head with the title, and earned the pin for the victory.

With this win, Tenille Dashwood claims her first championships in IMPACT Wrestling. Madison Rayne has now become a three-time IMPACT Knockouts Tag Team Champion, and holds her first title in IMPACT since 2014.

Also at Sacrifice, Deonna Purrazzo held another Champ Champ open challenge. Over the past few weeks, Purrazzo has laid out an open challenge for any competitor to claim a title shot against her Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship or AAA Reina De Reinas Championship. This time, the challenge was answered by “The Hot Mess”, Chelsea Green.

Green has recently aligned herself with Mickie James, in her confrontations against Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans. This time though, Green found herself in singles competition against “The Virtuosa”, with the ROH Women’s Championship on the line.

Purrazzo utilized her technical wrestling ability to target Green’s previously injured wrist throughout the bout. In the end, Purrazzo aggressively applied her signature Fujiwara Armbar for the submission victory. Though the bell rang, Purrazzo would not release her grip on Green. As a result, Mickie James dashed to the ring to tend to her battered friend, Chelsea Green.

As Green received help from the back, Mickie James was immediately thrust into the championship match right after. Visibly concerned for Green, James appeared unfocused on her match against Tasha Steelz.

Nevertheless, James put her Knockouts Championship on the line against Steelz. Savannah Evans accompanied Steelz to the ring, and played a heavy part in the outcome of the match. Evans attempted to attack Green as she was being helped to the back, but Mickie James countered that with a low blow to neutralize her.

James and Steelz would then go on to showcase solid offense and defense against each other. However, Savannah Evans would provide multiple distractions, allowing Steelz to gain the advantage.

With the match heating up with back and forth action, James hits a backpack stunner which creates some breathing room between the two Knockouts as they rolled to the floor after trading blows on the top rope. James follows up with a Thesz Press. After getting a Mick-DT on her opponent, Evans interferes once again by getting in the ring. James deposits her back outside but Evans gets involved one more time which is all that Steelz needed to capitalize.

In the end, Steelz landed a mid-air cutter on her opponent to gain the pinfall victory. Therefore, Tasha Steelz is now the new Knockouts World Champion, for the first time in her career.

AEW Revolution Results

All Elite Wrestling held their Revolution pay-per-view over the weekend to much excitement. Two women’s championships were on the line that night, including the introduction of a new title design.

Dr. Britt Baker defended her AEW Women’s World Championship against the fiery Thunder Rosa.

With Rebel and Jamie Hayter by her side, Baker utilized the power of outside distraction throughout the bout. Thunder Rosa forced Baker to tap out at one point, but Rebel managed to distract the referee to evade a loss for Baker. Thunder Rosa battled back and neutralized the outside threats with a vicious spear to Rebel and clothesline on Hayter. However, Britt Baker regained her composure in time to hit a stomp on Rosa to retain her championship.

Speaking of the AEW Women’s World Championship, it appears as though the championship has gotten a new design and look, as seen on Revolution:

Also on the main card of Revolution, Jade Cargill laid her TBS Championship on the line against Tay Conti. Both competitors displayed great back and forth action throughout the match. In the end, however, Cargill launched Conti into the ring post, then landed her Jaded finisher for the victory. With this win, Cargill extends her winning streak to 29-0.

On the Buy-In pre-show, Leyla Hirsch defeated Kris Statlander with a springboard moonsault.

Liv Morgan And Rhea Ripley Join Women’s Tag Team Title Match At WrestleMania 38

This week on Monday Night RAW, Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley teamed up in a non-title match against the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Carmella and Queen Zelina.

At one point, Zelina found herself alone in the ring, attempting to desperately tag in her partner, only to find her corner empty. Distracted by the commentary team, Carmella became engaged in conversation with her real-life fiancé, Corey Graves. As a result, Rhea Ripley capitalized in the ring by landing her signature Riptide on Zelina to gain the pinfall.

Now, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan join the teams of Carmella and Zelina, and Naomi and Sasha Banks in a high-stakes match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 38. Though a newer team, Morgan and Ripley look to walk out of this now triple threat match as champions.
