My latest post on Upgruv.com and the Upgruv app is about Goldberg and his WWE future. Here’s an excerpt:

At 49 years old and 12 years away from the business — Bill Goldberg proved he’s still got it.

His appearance on ESPN SportsCenter Wednesday night was textbook pro wrestling hustle. He showed some personality, gave some personal motivational reasons tied to business left unfinished, insulted a possible opponent and dangled the carrot.

He promoted the WWE 2k17 video game which was priority 1. The company has developed annual momentum with the fall release of the game that continues to get better with technology. It also has come to feature legends of the past like Ultimate Warrior and Sting who all start with promoting the game and end with appearing on WWE programming.

I expect Goldberg to be no different.

In true babyface form, he was humble as he spoke of being more mature now and how his son has never got to see him perform except seeing clips YouTube, which brings Goldberg great joy.

He slipped in subtle verbal jabs to Brock Lesnar who is on the cover of the game and referenced beating The Beast in 2004.

When asked if he would get back in the ring, Goldberg played out the sympathy card of if he could still be the Goldberg everyone expects given his age. When asked about what it would take to prepare for in-ring, he casually gave the timeframe “the end of the year.”

Smells like a Royal Rumble marquee match in January to help draw 70,000 into San Antonio’s Alamodome.
