Rookie Women Get Wins
Smackdown Live featured two women’s division matches. Eva Marie had a wardrobe malfunction, which caused her to not compete once again. Instead, Alexa Bliss takes on Becky Lynch. Stomping on the mat, slowing the pace and really focusing on a lower body attack is what Bliss accomplished tonight. With Becky, she was able to fire back with a running forearm into the corner and a T-Bone Suplex. Eva Marie’s music hit once again, which gave Alexa enough time to throw Becky into the corner and hit Twist of Bliss off the top for the win.
Carmella took on Natalya, where Nattie came out and attacked her on the ramp making her way down to the ring. Natalya controlled most of the match, stretching her out with some submissions and a big clothesline. Natalya only gets a two count and looks frustrated, which allows Carmella to lock in her submission move and get the former champion to tap out.
As we see on Smackdown Live, it is all about seeing who can go and who cannot. For Alexa Bliss, I was certainly impressed with how she came off in the ring with Becky. She looked fast, aggressive and sold her moves really well. She can take a bump and make it look like a train ran her over. I also enjoyed her unique style of attack. She is never going to be stronger than the other, but her scrappy and dirty demeanor in the ring is really refreshing to see. With Carmella, she is not as close to having the chains unleashed. You need to make sure her gimmick continues to sell herself.
I like her look, her submission move and her ability to get the crowd behind her. She is green in the ring, but time and veteran presence will ultimately help her. Her biggest obstacle right now is timing, executing the moves and making sure she is in the right spot at the right time. Overall, more positive than negative things from both women tonight.
